    1. Putting on Compression Socks:

    • Use rubber gloves for ease and to protect the material from fingernails or jewelry.
    • Remove hand and wrist jewelry if not using gloves.
    • Be cautious with zips and velcro on shoes to avoid damage.

    2. Washing Compression Socks:

    • Wash and air-dry after each use to maintain elasticity.
    • Machine wash separately or with similar colors at 30-40°C on a gentle cycle. Avoid hot water.
    • Place in a linen or mesh laundry bag for extra protection.
    • Use gentle detergent; avoid bleach and fabric softeners.
    • Don’t wring out; gently press water out instead.
    • Tumble-dry or air-dry; avoid sun-drying or placing on heaters/radiators.
    • Dryer use after long-term wear can restore original shape.
    • Replace every 3-6 months to maintain proper compression.

    What Graduated Compression Actually Does

Pressure is engineered to peak at the ankle and taper toward the calf, assisting the muscle pump in moving blood back toward the heart instead of letting it collect. That means less swelling, less fatigue and reduced clot risk. Worn daily by nurses, frequent flyers, athletes and expectant mothers.

    • 1

      Firm at the ankle

15–20mmHg of pressure where it counts most to kick-start circulation.

    • 2

      Eases up the calf

The gradient guides blood upward and reduces swelling and heaviness.

    • 3

      All-day comfort

Breathable, antibacterial fabric with a non-slip cuff keeps you fresh from desk to flight.

    What customers are saying

My legs don't ache after a 12-hour shift

I'm a nurse and these are the first compression socks that actually stay up all shift without digging in. So comfortable I've bought three more pairs.

    Amelia R.· MelbourneVerified

    Perfect for long-haul flights

Wore them Sydney to London and zero swelling for the first time ever. Soft, breathable and the compression feels firm but never tight. Highly recommend the 3-pack.

    David K.· SydneyVerified

    Great in pregnancy

Third trimester and my ankles thank me every day. The material is genuinely soft and the cuff doesn't leave marks. Ordered two more designs already.

    Compression sock FAQs

Are TheraWear compression socks good for nurses?
Yes. Our 15-20 mmHg graduated socks are a favorite among nurses and anyone working a twelve-hour shift on their feet. The graduated pressure keeps blood moving, easing the aching, swelling and tired, heavy legs that come with long shifts on hard hospital floors.
Can I wear compression socks on long flights or when traveling?
Absolutely. Compression socks are one of the most recommended items for long flights and travel. By supporting healthy circulation, our 15-20 mmHg socks help reduce the leg swelling and discomfort that come from sitting still through a cross-country or red-eye flight.
Are compression socks safe to wear during pregnancy?
Many expecting moms wear 15-20 mmHg compression socks to help with the swelling and leg heaviness that are common later in pregnancy. It is a light-to-moderate, everyday-friendly level, but if you have a pregnancy-related condition, check with your doctor or midwife first.
Do compression socks help with varicose veins?
Graduated compression is widely used to help manage the symptoms of varicose veins, supporting circulation and easing aching and swelling. Our socks are 15-20 mmHg (light-to-moderate); for a diagnosed vein condition, follow your doctor's advice on the compression level that is right for you.
What compression level are TheraWear socks?
Every pair is 15-20 mmHg graduated compression, firmest at the ankle and easing up the leg. It is a light-to-moderate strength, the most popular level for everyday wear, and available without a prescription.
How do I choose the right size?
Because every pair is the same 15-20 mmHg, you only need to pick your size, not a compression level. Measure your ankle and calf and match them to the chart on our Sizing Guide page for the best fit.
How long can I wear compression socks each day?
Most people wear 15-20 mmHg socks comfortably throughout the day and take them off at night. Put them on in the morning, when swelling is lowest. If anything ever feels too tight, take them off.
How do I wash and care for them?
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and air dry, and avoid the dryer, which can break down the compression fibers over time. See our Care Guide for full instructions.
